Delhi Police arrest 3 men for cheating people

Three men were arrested from Gujarat’s Ahmedabad for allegedly cheating people by luring them to buy packaging material in bulk and keeping the advance payment without delivering. The accused were identified as Ahmedabad residents Jitendra Kumar Chauhan (35), Parmar Dilipbhai (47) and Pawar Shyam (44), who was previously involved in an alleged cheating case in Jammu and Kashmir.Police said the complainant alleged that he had ordered a sample for adhesive material after seeing an online advertisement of a company, and later paid an advance of Rs 3,89,400 on February 19 as he found the sample adequate in quality. However, he was not supplied with the materials and the mobile numbers of the alleged company were switched off.Police said the amount had been withdrawn by cheque the same day, and the location of the phones was found to be in Ahmedabad. A case was filed under IPC section 420 (cheating) at the Cyber station in Northeast Delhi.Police said the company address was found to be fake based on enquiries in the area. Based on a local input, a raid was conducted and Pawar was apprehended. Based on his confession, the other accused were also arrested.DCP (Northeast) Sanjay Sain said: “The accused floated the company and had it GST-registered to build faith, and later shifted the office. They advertised bulk packing supplies at cheap rates and lured people with samples. When the customer made a bulk order, they would take an advance payment and vanish, breaking all their SIM cards.”

Probe agencies being used for extortion, not to end graft: Arvind Kejriwal in Gujarat; claims cops asked about money during AAP office raid

AHMEDABAD: In a swipe at the Centre, Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal on Monday alleged that probe agencies were being used to conduct raids for "extortion" and not to end corruption. Speaking about the purported raid conducted by "three policemen" at the AAP's office in Ahmedabad on Sunday, Kejriwal claimed the policemen were asking about money. "We are a poor party with no money. The policemen searched our office for two hours and left. They were asking our people about money. They left when we said there was no money. Today, the Ahmedabad police said no raid took place. This is surprising," he said. "What is going on in this country? Is this how a policiya sarkar (police state) works? Police are entering any house or office without valid papers," he questioned while speaking at a town hall in Ahmedabad in poll-bound Gujarat. The Ahmedabad police had refuted the claim of AAP that its office was raided on Sunday. Kejriwal said the country cannot progress until businessmen are free from the fear of raids. He urged the business sector in the state to support AAP in the Assembly polls, due in December this year, as a victory would mean the AAP has three chief ministers (Delhi, Gujarat, and Punjab), which will allow its voice to be heard by the Centre for simplification of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). "They are scaring people through agencies not to end corruption but for extortion. All the agencies are being used for extortion. Until the businessmen of the country are rid of fear and can do business freely, the country will not progress," Kejriwal said. The AAP government will be corruption-free and will ensure people can do business freely without fear of raids as well as works towards simplification of the GST process at the state and Central levels, the AAP leader claimed. He said the party will have three chief ministers if it wins in Gujarat and "when the three CMs raise their voice before the Centre, we will be heard more". Attacking the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, Kejriwal said, "They are doing their best to spread lies across the country that Kejriwal is involved in liquor scam, Manish Sisodia is behind Rs 144 crore corruption. They conducted raids on his house and could not even find Rs 10,000." Raids on the AAP at several places, including Gujarat, have yielded nothing as the party and its individuals are honest and do not take money, Kejriwal claimed. "They found nothing in the houses of Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain. They keep talking about such things. The public is watching. When we formed government in Delhi, we stopped all the raids," he said.

New Delhi, Sep 12 (PTI) The AAP Monday said it has proof of the "illegal" raid by police at its office in Ahmedabad and would show it if Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is ready to answer all questions about the searches. The Aam Aadmi Party"s assertion came after the Gujarat Police denied that any raid was conducted at the Arvind Kejriwal-led party"s office in Ahmedabad on Sunday evening."Police conducted an illegal raid yesterday at the party"s office in Ahmedabad. They forcibly entered the office and carried out searches for two hours without any warrant or court order," AAP chief spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj told a press conference at the party headquarters here. The police team searched all computers, went through all the documents kept at the party office and interrogated people there, he claimed. But the Ahmedabad police is now denying it as its raiding team did not find anything against the AAP during the "illegal" searches conducted at the party"s office, Bharadwaj said."We have evidence to prove the illegal raid and searches carried out by police at our party office in Ahmedabad. Our people know the police officers who went there. We are ready to present the evidence if the Gujarat chief minister agrees to hold a press conference and answer all the questions pertaining to the raid," he said.
