Electricity bill fraud: Banker cheated in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: A 39-year-old woman from the Naranpura area of the city, who works as a cashier with a private bank, on Monday filed a police complaint stating that two unknown persons cheated her of Rs 34,000 in garb of paying electricity bill. Khushbu Kayasth, a resident of Harishchandra Society in Pragatinagar locality, said in her FIR with Naranpura police that she got a message about her unpaid electricity bill on September 9. She called on the number given and a man told her to talk with a senior officer. Later, another man called her up and told her to download an app through which the accused got remote access of her phone. The second man told her to submit her debit card details. After she filled up the details, she found that Rs 34,000 were debited in three transactions. Naranpura police registered a case of breach of trust and cheating along with charges of IT Act.
