Surat police seize Rs 75L from car

A team from Surat police’s static surveillance team intercepted an Innova with a Maharashtra registration plate in Mahidharpura area late on Tuesday around 11.30 pm and seized Rs 74.8 lakh from the car.Even as police detained car driver Uday Gurjar from New Delhi and Mohammed Faiz of Surat, the third occupant Sandeep from Karnataka fled the place.While the cops alerted the income tax department, during primary investigations it has come to light that one R R Angadia firm was involved in the transaction of the unaccounted cash.While searching, the team found leaflets of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Surat rally from the vehicle besides a VIP car pass bearing the name of B M Sandeep, who is the AICC secretary and in-charge of South Gujarat region of Congress, triggering a political slugfest.BJP media coordinator Yagnesh Dave told media that the recovery of Congress leaflets indicates involvement of a Congress leader. There are all chances that the cash also belongs to Congress, he alleged, adding that investigation will reveal whose money it is and the reason behind the transport of such a huge amount in Surat.AM
